Gives a U.S. marshal who was hired from a competitive-service job in the U.S. Marshals Service and who is removed for reasons other than misconduct, failing to do their job, or other wrongdoing the right to be rehired into any open competitive-service job in the U.S. Marshals Service at the same or a lower grade or pay level. The marshal must be qualified and must apply within 90 days after being removed. A marshal who was serving on the law’s effective date stays in office for the rest of the term they were appointed to, unless the President removes them earlier.
