Title 28 › Part III— COURT OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES › Chapter 45— SUPREME COURT › § 676
The Supreme Court or the Chief Justice must pick the printer(s) for all printing and binding of the Court’s decisions—single copies, advance pamphlets, and bound volumes—unless the Court says otherwise. If a private printer does the work, enough copies must be made for distribution under section 411 and for public sale. The Court or Chief Justice sets how they are sold and the prices. Until they are sold or distributed, the copies belong to the United States and are kept by the marshal or someone the Court names.
