§3153 Eligible Providers of Youth Workforce Investment Activities

Summary

Local boards must use the money from section 3163(b) to give youth workforce grants or contracts by competition. They must pick providers based on the State plan’s criteria, including any Governor-set quality rules for training that leads to a recognized postsecondary credential. Boards must weigh a provider’s ability to meet the performance measures in sections 3141(b)(2)(A)(ii) and 3112(b)(2)(D)(i)(V), and must oversee those providers. If a board finds too few eligible providers in its area (for example, a rural area), it may award a grant or contract without competition.
