Provide funding to help States promote independent living for people with disabilities. It supports consumer control, peer support, self‑help, self‑determination, equal access, and advocacy so people with disabilities can be independent, productive, and fully included. Funds are for three main goals: (1) provide, expand, and improve independent living services; (2) build and support statewide centers for independent living; and (3) help States get programs to work together, including Statewide Independent Living Councils (section 796d), vocational programs (subchapter I), supported employment (subchapter VI), and client assistance (section 732).
