The Director must produce printed copies and machine-readable versions of each report required by this chapter and offer them for sale to the public at a price set under the rules below. The Director must send one free printed copy to every Federal regional depository library and to the House Committees on Government Operations, the Budget, and Appropriations, and to the Senate Committees on Governmental Affairs, the Budget, and Appropriations. After each calendar year, the Director must also send one free machine-readable copy of the report required by section 6202 to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and to the House Committee on House Oversight. The Director may waive all or part of the sales fee. When fixing prices, the Director must try to cover as much as possible of the extra costs of compiling, preparing, and distributing the reports, and must estimate how many copies will be bought. The Director must not count the costs of the activities described in sections 6102a and 6205 when setting prices.
