Defines key words used in the chapter. Administrator is the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Coastal state uses the meaning in section 1453(4) of title 16. Working Group means the Interagency Working Group on Ocean and Coastal Mapping under section 3502. Exclusive economic zone is the U.S. zone set by Presidential Proclamation No. 5030 of March 10, 1983. Ocean and coastal mapping means collecting and sharing data about ocean and coastal features and boundaries using tools like acoustics, satellites, aerial photos, imaging, sampling, and other mapping technology. Territorial sea is the belt of sea from the U.S. baseline under international law as set by Presidential Proclamation Number 5928, dated December 27, 1988. Nongovernmental entities are NGOs, academics, and private companies that make maps, charts, surveys, aerial or satellite images, or other visual or digital depictions. Outer Continental Shelf means submerged lands seaward of navigable waters whose seabed and subsoil belong to the United States (see section 1301 of title 43). Coastal Indian Tribe means an Indian Tribe with land in a coastal State (see section 5304 of title 25).
