§702a–5 Back Levee North of Eudora Floodway

Summary

Build the back-protection levee north of the Eudora Floodway to the same height and shape as the levees on the east side of the Mississippi River. The stretch from the head of the Eudora Floodway north to the Arkansas River must be placed so there is enough room for floodwaters and must be built at the same time as the Eudora Floodway. Until the Eudora Floodway is working, leave openings in the back levee north of the floodway head. The Chief of Engineers will decide how big those openings must be so expected floodwaters can pass if the riverside fuse-plug levee breaks before the floodway is operating.
