Title 33 › Chapter 15— FLOOD CONTROL › § 702n
The Secretary of the Army may use money available under sections 702a, 702b to 702d, 702e to 702g, 702h, 702i, 702j, 702k, 702l, 702m, and 704 to buy or reimburse States or local levee districts for rights-of-way or easements needed to build levees in the Mississippi Valley when the United States must pay under those sections. This applies even if the rights were given earlier or under different conditions. Payments can only be made after a careful check shows the prices are reasonable. Payments may be paid as soon as the rights or easements are obtained according to local custom or law and are acceptable to the Chief of Engineers.
