Defines a few key words used in this part. A school is an elementary or secondary school and can include a Bureau-funded school (see section 2021 of title 25). A unit of local government means a county, municipality, town, township, village, parish, borough, or another local government below the State level. Indian tribe has the same meaning as in section 5304(e) of title 25. Evidence-based describes a program, practice, technology, or equipment that shows statistically significant positive results in at least one well-designed experimental, quasi-experimental, or correlational study (the correlational study must control for selection bias), or has solid research or positive evaluation and ongoing testing; for technology or equipment it must also follow best school security standards and applicable building and life-safety codes. Tribal organization has the same meaning as in section 5304(l) of title 25.
