§10592 Use of Grant Funds

Summary

Grants for the program can be used to create, run, and grow treatment programs for incarcerated parents with minor children and to support residential substance-abuse treatment. The prison family programs cannot serve a parent when there is reasonable evidence that the parent committed domestic violence or child abuse. Money can also pay for coordination between correctional staff and government agencies, pay public or nonprofit groups to treat nonviolent parent drug offenders in the program, and cover salaries, staff, facility, and other direct operating costs.
