Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle I— Comprehensive Acts › Chapter 121— VIOLENT CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT › Subchapter VII— POLICE CORPS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TRAINING AND EDUCATION › Part A— Police Corps › § 12558
When a participant finishes the training under section 12557 and meets the police force’s requirements, they must be sworn in under the State Police Corps plan and serve four years with that force. They have the same rights, duties, rules, and labor‑organization agreements as other officers. If discipline or a layoff stops a participant from finishing four years and would cause loss of educational aid under section 12555, the Director may allow the participant to finish the service in an equivalent law enforcement job. If they complete that alternative service, section 12555(d)(1)(B)(iii) will not apply.
