§21502 Definitions

The chapter tells what key words mean for the rules that follow. Center — the Angel Watch Center created under section 21503(a). Convicted — means what “convicted” is defined to mean in section 111 of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 (42 U.S.C. 16911). Covered sex offender — someone convicted of a sex offense against a minor, unless the chapter says otherwise. Destination country — a destination or transit country. INTERPOL — the International Criminal Police Organization. Jurisdiction — a State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and, where allowed under section 127 of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. 16927), a federally recognized Indian tribe. Minor — a person under 18 years old. National Sex Offender Registry — the registry set up by section 119 of the Adam Walsh Act (42 U.S.C. 16919). Sex offender under SORNA — means “sex offender” as defined in section 111 of the Adam Walsh Act. Sex offense against a minor — the “specified offenses against a minor” in section 111 (42 U.S.C. 16911), including offenses listed in section 111(5)(A) when they meet the paragraph (7) definition and attempts or conspiracies; the same limits on foreign convictions and consensual conduct found in section 111(5)(B) and (C) apply here.
