§30308 Requirement That Accreditation Organizations Adopt Accreditation Standards

Summary

Organizations that accredit federal, state, local, or private prisons, jails, or other penal facilities cannot receive new federal grants unless they follow two rules. First, starting 90 days after September 4, 2003, they must have, for each facility they accredit, standards to detect, prevent, reduce, and punish prison rape. Second, within 1 year after the date of adoption of the final rule under section 30307(a)(4) of this title, they must adopt accreditation standards that match the national standards set by that final rule, in addition to any other relevant standards.
