§336 Contracting Bonus for Cadets and Midshipmen Enrolled in the Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps

Summary

The Secretary in charge may pay up to $5,000 to an ROTC cadet or midshipman who signs a written agreement to finish required field training or practice cruises, complete advanced training, accept an officer commission or appointment, and serve on active duty. Once the Secretary accepts the agreement, the bonus amount is set and the agreement must say when the money will be paid and whether it will be a lump sum or in installments. If someone gets the bonus but does not meet the agreement, they must repay the money under section 373 of this title. The Secretary must write rules to run the program. No new agreements can be made after December 31, 2026.
