Title 38 › Part II— GENERAL BENEFITS › Chapter 15— PENSION FOR NON-SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABILITY OR DEATH OR FOR SERVICE › Subchapter II— VETERANS’ PENSIONS › § 1525
If a veteran’s pension ended after January 31, 1985 because the veteran began earning pay from work or training, the veteran keeps the same care and services under that part of the law for three years starting on the date the pension ended. That continued eligibility covers medical care and services and, when it applies, prescription drugs and medicines. A pension is treated as ended for this reason only if the pay came from paid work or training. It only applies when the veteran’s other yearly income, by itself, would not have caused the pension to end.
