The Secretary must pay each person who is eligible for basic education help and is enrolled in an approved program a monthly allowance to help cover living costs, tuition, fees, supplies, books, equipment, and other school expenses. If the person is in education or training under 10 U.S.C. 2007(a) or (c), they can choose to have the Secretary pay all or part of school charges not paid by the military. The monthly amount will match what they would get under section 3015. Payments can be made for up to 36 months. The months used are the total dollars paid divided by the full‑time monthly school rate from section 3015 (subsections (a)(1), (b)(1), (c)(1), (d)(1), or (e)(1)); fractions count.
