Title 38 › Part III— READJUSTMENT AND RELATED BENEFITS › Chapter 35— SURVIVORS’ AND DEPENDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › Subchapter VII— PHILIPPINE COMMONWEALTH ARMY AND PHILIPPINE SCOUTS › § 3565
Children of Commonwealth Army veterans and "New" Philippine Scouts are treated as eligible when their parent died or became disabled because of service under the rules in section 3566. Those children may get education benefits under this chapter and chapter 36. Two special rules apply: payments under sections 3532 and 3542 are paid at $0.50 for each dollar, and any mention of a State approving agency means the Secretary. If someone is eligible only for this reason and was over 17 but under 23 on September 30, 1966, their benefit period continues until five years after that date.
