The Secretary must provide hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical care for veterans who qualify. Any new building, purchase, or change to a medical facility must follow the rules in this subchapter. Facilities should be placed fairly across the United States, giving priority to places with the most urgent need and paying attention to good design. For projects over $2,000,000 (except exchanges), the Secretary must consider sharing health-care resources with the Department of Defense under section 8111.
