Defines key words used in this subtitle. Commission means the regional Commission or Authority created for the program. Local development district means an economic development group in the region that either already existed when the law passed or, if none existed, is set up to include broad community input, has a policy board with a majority of elected local officials or their appointed representatives, is certified by the Governor or appropriate State officer to cover economic development for counties or parts of counties in the region, and has not been certified by the Federal Cochairperson as having misused Federal grant funds or as having appointed an officer who was part of an entity that misused such funds. Federal grant program means a federal program that gives money for economic and community development. Indian tribe has the meaning given in the Indian Self‑Determination and Education Assistance Act. Nonprofit entity means a tax‑exempt organization formed for economic development. Region means the area served by the Commission.
