A local government cannot get aid from more than one Commission in the same fiscal year. If it is inside more than one Commission area, it must choose one by sending written notice to that Commission’s federal cochair and state member. The choice applies that year and future years unless, at least 90 days before a fiscal year, it sends written notice to the new Commission’s cochairs and copies the current Commission. "Commission" includes the Appalachian Regional Commission.
