§15703 Counties Eligible for Assistance in More Than One Region

Summary

A State political subdivision (like a county or city) may not get help from more than one Commission in the same fiscal year. If a subdivision lies in regions of more than one Commission, it must pick which Commission to work with by writing to that Commission’s Federal Cochairperson and the appropriate State member. The choice applies for that fiscal year and keeps applying each year unless the subdivision wants to switch. To switch, it must tell the Cochairpersons of the new Commission in writing at least 90 days before the fiscal year starts and send a copy to the Cochairpersons of the current Commission. The word “Commission” here also includes the Appalachian Regional Commission.
