Title 40 › Subtitle SUBTITLE I— FEDERAL PROPERTY AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES › Chapter 5— PROPERTY MANAGEMENT › Subchapter V— OPERATION OF BUILDINGS AND RELATED ACTIVITIES › § 589
Executive agencies may install, repair, or replace sidewalks on federal buildings or grounds they control in any State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. They can pay a State or local government back or use other payment methods, and must follow rules set by the General Services Administration with OMB approval. Money already appropriated for general installation, repair, and maintenance can be used for this work. Allowing these projects does not increase the federal government’s legal responsibility for injuries or property damage.
