The Smithsonian Secretary, the National Gallery Trustees, and the Kennedy Center Trustees (or their designees) may, subject to section 5375 of title 5, appoint their employees as special police without extra pay to police their buildings and grounds. Those special police can enforce and make arrests for sections 6302 and 6303, rules under 6304, and other federal or state laws in those areas, and may act with the U.S. Park Police in National Capital Parks areas inside the curb lines of the squares where the buildings sit. They may be issued uniforms, badges, revolvers, ammunition, and other needed equipment at no charge.
