§11802 Application for Grants and Contracts

Summary

Anyone — an agency, organization, institution, or person — who wants a grant or contract under section 11801 must apply to the Secretary when and how the Secretary says to, and give whatever information the Secretary requires. The application must describe the project and say which purposes in section 11801 it will meet; state that the applicant will run or supervise the project; explain how it will be managed well; include plans for regular evaluation and for sending reports to the Secretary; and show money controls and accounting to make sure funds are used and tracked properly.

Title 42, §11802

(a)Any agency, organization, institution, or individual desiring to receive a grant, or to enter into a contract, under section 11801 of this title shall submit to the Secretary an application at such time, in such manner, and containing or accompanied by such information as the Secretary may require by rule.

(b)Each application for assistance under this subchapter shall—

(1)set forth a project or activity for carrying out one or more of the purposes specified in section 11801 of this title and specifically identify each such purpose such project or activity is designed to carry out,

(2)provide that such project or activity shall be administered by or under the supervision of the applicant,

(3)provide for the proper and efficient administration of such project or activity,

(4)provide for regular evaluation of the operation of such project or activity,

(5)provide that regular reports on such project or activity shall be submitted to the Secretary, and

(6)provide such fiscal control and fund accounting procedures as may be necessary to ensure prudent use, proper disbursement, and accurate accounting of funds received under this subchapter.
