Title 42 › Chapter 129— NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE › Subchapter I— NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE STATE GRANT PROGRAM › Part I— Programs for Elementary and Secondary School Students › § 12528
The Corporation will pay part of a grant-funded program’s costs. For new grants it can cover up to 80% in year one, 65% in year two, and 50% in each later year. For continuing grants it can cover up to 50%. Grantees must pay the rest with cash or with things like facilities, equipment, or services. They may use federal, state, local, private, or donated funds for their share, but they may not use federal money from Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act or from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The Chief Executive Officer can waive these rules, in whole or part, for a fiscal year if a local lack of resources makes that fair.
