Summary

Participating jurisdictions must keep the records the Secretary requires to show how much money they got under the demonstration program, how they used it, that they followed the rules, and how well the program worked. Each jurisdiction must send the Secretary a yearly report, in the form and by the deadline the Secretary sets, that shows how program funds were used, gives any other information the Secretary asks for to evaluate the program, and explains how the activities helped meet the program’s goals. The Secretary and the Comptroller General, or their authorized representatives, may inspect and audit any records or documents related to the program. The Secretary will monitor each jurisdiction’s performance using the program’s performance standards. Within 60 days after the end of the program’s second year, the Secretary must send Congress an interim report on the program’s status and how each jurisdiction is progressing toward the program’s purposes.
