Title 42 › Chapter 11— COMPENSATION FOR DISABILITY OR DEATH TO PERSONS EMPLOYED AT MILITARY, AIR, AND NAVAL BASES OUTSIDE UNITED STATES › § 1652
When figuring benefits under this chapter, the minimum weekly disability amount in section 906(b) of Title 33 and the minimum average weekly wage in section 909(e) of Title 33 are not used. People who are not U.S. citizens and who do not live in the United States or Canada get the same permanent disability or death payments as residents under section 908(c)(21) and this chapter. If their dependents live in another country, only a surviving wife and child(ren), or if none, a surviving father or mother the worker supported for the one year immediately prior to the date of the injury, may be paid. The Secretary of Labor may, on his own or if the insurance carrier asks, convert all future payments into a lump sum and pay one-half of the commuted amount as he determines.
