§1862n–4 Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction Plan

Summary

The Director must make a numbered priority list of projects that the Board has approved for possible funding from the major research equipment and facilities construction account. The Director must send that list to the Board for approval. When making the list, the Director must use criteria that include how ready the construction and operation plans are, how confident they are in the full life-cycle cost estimates (the total cost over the project’s life), and the proposed completion schedule. The Director must update the list whenever the Board approves a new project and must periodically send any updates to the Board for approval. No project paid for from this account can be run by someone who has only a temporary appointment at the Foundation. The Board must expressly approve any project before money from this account can be spent on it.
