Title 42 › Chapter 24— DISPOSAL OF ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITIES › Subchapter IV— SALES OF PROPERTY FOR PRIVATE USE › § 2349
Gives the Commission the power to lease, sell (including leases with purchase options), or otherwise get rid of land, buildings, equipment, and related property at the Hanford project near Richland, Washington. The Commission can use this power even without following the rule in section 6101 of title 41, but only if the Commission finds the move will help prevent or reduce bad local economic effects from cuts in its programs. The Government must receive the Commission’s estimate of fair market value or fair rental value for any sale or lease. Before any disposal, the Commission must send the plan and supporting information to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and wait forty-five days while Congress is in session (days when either House is out for more than three days do not count). Those two committees can waive all or part of the forty-five-day wait by a written resolution.
