Title 42 › Chapter 6A— PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter II— GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES › Part B— Federal-State Cooperation › § 247a
If money is available, the Secretary, working with the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institutes of Health, and the Administration on Aging, must promote setting up free family support groups. These groups must give education, emotional help, and practical assistance to people with Alzheimer’s or related memory problems and their families. Priority should go to federally funded university medical centers and similar health care sites that research or serve people with Alzheimer’s, and to community programs funded through the Administration on Aging. The Secretary must also promote creating a national network to coordinate those family support groups.
