U.S. health secretary can fund public health training centers. These must be accredited public health schools or public or nonprofit graduate programs. They must run projects to improve prevention, health promotion, and access or quality of care in rural or medically underserved areas. Accredited schools get preference. To get funds, centers must create student field placements, involve faculty and students in projects for underserved communities, serve a specific area away from the school's main campus, and assess and plan for health workforce needs.
