Title 42 › CHAPTER 6A — PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › SUBCHAPTER XXV — REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE › Part E — Health Care Provider Requirements › § 300gg–133
Starting January 1, 2022, health care providers and facilities must make a one-page notice available to the public, post it on their public website if they have one, and send it to people covered by group health plans or health insurance by mail or email, based on the person’s choice. The notice must be easy to read and must say: the rules that stop balance billing in certain situations; any state laws that limit what the provider can charge you when the provider is not in your plan’s network after your plan and you paid; and how to contact state or federal agencies if you think the provider broke these rules.
