The Secretary of the Interior, through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, must make surplus Indian educational facilities available to tribal organizations and to nonprofit groups that have tribal approval to use as multipurpose senior centers. Those centers can be changed to provide things like extended care, community center space, nutrition services, child care, and other supportive services. Any eligible tribal organization that wants to use a surplus facility must apply to the Secretary of the Interior at the time, in the way, and with the information the Secretary requires.
