Title 42 › CHAPTER 82 — SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL › SUBCHAPTER X — DEMONSTRATION MEDICAL WASTE TRACKING PROGRAM › § 6992f
States may do inspections under 6992c and take enforcement actions under 6992d against anyone, including people who brought medical waste into the State illegally. When a State starts an enforcement action under 6992d, it must notify the Administrator in writing. Federal rules do not override or limit any State or local law or their power to make and enforce laws, except for rules about tracking forms. If a State or local law requires a tracking form, the form must be identical in content and format to the one required under 6992b, but the State can require extra tracking details on additional sheets or by other means.
