Title 43 › Chapter 9— DESERT-LAND ENTRIES › § 336
The Secretary of the Interior can give a desert-land entryman up to three more years, beyond extensions allowed by sections 333–335 or by laws in effect before February 25, 1925, to finish the required proof that the land was reclaimed and farmed. To get the extension, the entryman must file a corroborated affidavit at the local land office showing unavoidable irrigation delays not their fault, must have followed annual spending and proof rules in good faith, and must show under the Secretary’s rules a reasonable chance of completing the proof if given more time.
