Title 43 › Chapter 9— DESERT-LAND ENTRIES › § 337
The Secretary of the Interior, under rules he sets, may give a person with a lawful desert-land entry made before March 4, 1915 five years from notice to finish the claim as a homestead. To get this extra time, the entryman—or an assignee assigned before March 4, 1915—must have in good faith spent $3 per acre trying to reclaim the land. The Secretary must also find there is no reasonable chance of getting enough water even with extensions under section 335 or laws existing before March 4, 1915.
