The Secretary of the Interior must build, operate, and maintain the Hungry Horse Dam on the South Fork of the Flathead River in Flathead County, Montana, as soon as possible. The dam will be for irrigation, land reclamation, flood control, navigation, flow regulation, power generation, and other benefits mainly in Montana and downstream areas. It must be able to hold at least one million acre-feet of water and the project must follow the Federal reclamation laws (Act of June 17, 1902). The Secretary may finish the dam later, when extra material is available, to give the reservoir the maximum usable and feasible storage.
