Title 44 › Chapter 19— DEPOSITORY LIBRARY PROGRAM › § 1907
Department libraries and five service academies are official places for Government publications. Independent agencies may get a depository if its head certifies the need to the Superintendent of Documents, and extra depositories are limited to the number of bureaus or divisions. Depositories may discard unwanted Government publications only after offering them to the Library of Congress and the Archivist of the United States.
