Title 46 › Subtitle Subtitle I— General › Chapter 3— AUTOMATIC EXECUTION OF CONFORMING CHANGES › § 301
When a covered maritime law adds, removes, moves, or renames a section or a larger part, the law also must update the table of contents or similar lists so they match the change. That automatic update does not apply if the amendment (or a clerical fix at the same time) already updates the table, or if the amendment says it does not apply. Covered maritime law means: (1) the laws in this title; (2) any Maritime Administration authorization act that approves annual funding for the Maritime Administration; and (3) any other law that the text itself labels as covered for this rule.
