§55603 Multistate, State, Tribal, and Regional Transportation Planning

Summary

The Secretary can work with federal, state, local, Tribal, and private groups to make plans that promote using marine highways to carry passengers and cargo. The plans can check how much governments already include marine options in their transportation planning. They can also ask state and Tribal transportation departments to add ferries and other marine options for regional and interstate travel, and ask groups of states and Tribes to work together to see if marine highways can ease congestion, bottlenecks, and other problems between states.
