Title 47 › Chapter 15— SECURE AND TRUSTED COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS › § 1608
Gives short definitions for key words used in this chapter. Advanced communications service is the same as the term "advanced telecommunications capability" in section 1302 of this title. Appropriate national security agency means the Department of Homeland Security; the Department of Defense; the Office of the Director of National Intelligence; the National Security Agency; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Commission is the Federal Communications Commission. Communications equipment or service is any gear or service needed to provide advanced communications service. Covered communications equipment or service is any such gear or service on the Commission's list under section 1601(a). Customers, for a provider, are that provider’s customers and the customers of any affiliate (see section 153). Executive branch interagency body is a group of agencies set up in the executive branch. Person means an individual or an organization. Program is the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program created under section 1603(a) of this title. Provider of advanced communications service is anyone who offers that service to U.S. customers and includes accredited noncommercial educational institutions running their own facilities-based educational broadband service (see 47 CFR 27.4), plus health care providers and libraries that provide advanced communications service. Recipient is a provider whose reimbursement application the Commission has approved, even if they have not yet received money. Reimbursement funds are any reimbursement received under the Program.
