Title 48 › CHAPTER 12 — VIRGIN ISLANDS [1954] › SUBCHAPTER III — LEGISLATIVE BRANCH › § 1574a
The Virgin Islands legislature can issue bonds or other obligations based on revenues it will get under section 7652(b)(3) of title 26. The money from those bonds can be used for any purpose the legislature approves. By a majority vote, the legislature may also start a binding public referendum to approve or reject the amount or the purpose of any such bond. For bonds used for public works or other capital projects, the legislature may ask the United States to guarantee them under section 1574b. Other rules in section 1574(b)(ii) apply to these bonds, except where they conflict with this Act and except for the limitation in the proviso to the first sentence of subparagraph (A).
