Gives meanings for important words used in this title. Agency: any part or instrument of the U.S. government, including government-owned corporations. Beneficiary: has the same meaning as “native Hawaiian” in section 201(7) of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act. Chairman: the person who leads the Hawaiian Homes Commission of the State of Hawaii. Commission: the Hawaiian Homes Commission created under the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act. Hawaiian Homes Commission Act: the law called the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, 1920 (42 Stat. 108 et seq., chapter 42), enacted July 9, 1921. Hawaii State Admission Act: the law admitting Hawaii as a state, approved March 18, 1959 (Pub. L. 86–3). Lost use: the value of not being able to use homestead lands while the Federal Government used them after August 21, 1959. Secretary: the Secretary of the Interior.
