Title 49 › Subtitle SUBTITLE V— RAIL PROGRAMS › Part C— PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION › Chapter 243— AMTRAK › § 24318
Amtrak must keep internal checks so its costs, revenues, and other payments are correctly split between the Northeast Corridor and the National Network, including fair shares of shared and fixed costs. This does not stop Amtrak from making cost-sharing agreements with one or more States under section 209 of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008 (49 U.S.C. 24101 note). For this rule, notwithstanding section 24102, the "Northeast Corridor" means the main line between Boston, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia and the facilities and services used to run and maintain it.
