§1003 Applicability

Summary

The rules in this chapter must be followed by advisory committees unless the law that set up a specific committee says otherwise. The rules do not apply to committees used by the Central Intelligence Agency or the Federal Reserve System. They also do not apply to committees used by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence if the Director finds that national security prevents compliance. Local civic groups that mainly provide public service for a federal program, and state or local groups set up to advise state or local officials, are not covered either.
