§13111 Notice of Actions Taken to Comply with Ethics Agreements

Summary

Tell the right ethics office in writing whenever you take actions you agreed to take to follow ethics or conflict-of-interest rules. Send the notice to the proper office — your agency ethics official, the Office of Government Ethics, a Senate confirmation committee, a congressional ethics committee, or the Judicial Conference — by the date set in the agreement, or if no date is set, within 3 months of the agreement. If the agreement says you must recuse yourself from certain kinds of work, write down which topics are covered and how you will decide in a particular case whether to recuse. Filing that written recusal plan with your agency ethics official or supervising ethics office by the same deadline counts as the required notice.
