Title 5 › Part III— EMPLOYEES › Subpart B— Employment and Retention › Chapter 33— EXAMINATION, SELECTION, AND PLACEMENT › Subchapter II— OATH OF OFFICE › § 3333
People who take a job or an office with the U.S. government or the D.C. government must sign a sworn statement within 60 days after starting. The statement must say that taking and keeping the job does not and will not break section 7311. That signed statement serves as initial proof that the person’s job does not violate section 7311. If someone works for the government for less than 60 days doing emergency work to save lives or prevent property damage, they do not have to sign the statement. That exception does not stop the person from being held responsible if they break section 7311.
