The Chairperson of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation may give the power described in the second sentence of section 403(a) to the Vice Chairperson of the FDIC Board of Directors, but may not give that power to any other officer or employee of the Corporation. Despite paragraphs (7) and (8) of section 406(a), the Inspector General of the FDIC may hire the officers and employees needed to run the Office of Inspector General. The Inspector General may also bring in temporary or part‑time experts, consultants, or consultant organizations, but must follow the laws and rules that apply at the FDIC when doing so.
