A student-employee keeps their student status when temporarily sent to another government or non-government place for needed training. They can get their stipend and other benefits from the hospital, clinic, or laboratory they are sent to for up to 60 days of detail or affiliation in each training year, as set by the head of the agency. If the detail is to another Federal institution, the student-employee can get necessary travel expenses to and from that institution under the rules in subchapter I of chapter 57 of this title.
