Title 5 › Part III— EMPLOYEES › Subpart E— Attendance and Leave › Chapter 63— LEAVE › Subchapter III— VOLUNTARY TRANSFERS OF LEAVE › § 6334
An employee can ask their agency in writing to move some of their annual leave (paid time off) to help another employee, under the rules in section 6332. In one leave year, a donor may give at most half of the annual leave they would earn that year. If a donor would otherwise lose leave at year‑end, they can give only the hours left in the year that they are scheduled to work and be paid for. The donor’s agency can waive those limits if it does so in writing. The Office of Personnel Management must write rules for transfers when the donor and recipient work for different agencies.
