Title 50 › Chapter 40— DEFENSE AGAINST WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION › Subchapter I— DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS › § 2314
The Secretary of Defense must create and keep at least one domestic terrorism rapid response team made up of military members and Department of Defense employees. The team must help federal, state, and local officials find, stop, contain, take apart, and safely dispose of weapons of mass destruction that involve chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or very large explosives. The Secretary of Homeland Security must put guidance about how to use and send these teams into the National Response Plan and other federal emergency plans and programs. Homeland Security must do this work together with the Secretary of Defense and other federal agency leaders involved in emergency response.
